Les Thompson has resigned as Honorary President after holding the post for the past 11 years. Under his guidance the League has flourished and now 4 divisions and over 40 teams despite a general decline in league cricket. Les has been involved at club and league level for 50 years and was a founder member of New Wortley C.C. 31 years ago. Les played until the age of 61 and was a useful wicket keeper/batsman and became a well respected umpire at the end of his playing days. We wish him a long and fruitful retirement and take this opportunity to thank him publicly for all his endeavour. As a life member we hope he stays in touch. The post will be filled from the nominees at the next League Meeting .

David Smith the Honorary Treasurer has been appointed as a Vice President of the League. He has been Treasurer for the past 11 years and played for 21 years for Nat West C.C. until their demise last year. His 'glittering' playing career included 1 half century and he once shared in a 50+ last wicket stand before being out for a duck! Whilst rarely a bowler "I only took one wicket in my career - The poor unfortunate fellow was Hawksworth's No 11 during a cup match. I have a duty to keep his name secret". Congratulations David on your appointment.

Congratulations to Esholt and Baildon Meths C who have been awarded the first and second team sportsmanship awards respectively for the season 2000. The winners are decided by the highest average points per game awarded by the umpires. Up to 5 points are awarded to each side by the umpires immediately after each game.

Horsforth and Motivators have both tendered their resignations to the league, effective immediately. Any players from these clubs seeking alternative clubs can contact the league via email dalescouncil@netscape.net.

Over rates for each club side have now been published with only 7 clubs failing to reach the desired 17 overs per hour. In light of the severe weather disruptions which were experienced this season, no fines will be levied this year.

Meanwood (297-8) and New Wortley (300-4) have shattered the previous league record for the highest aggregate of runs in a match amassing a colossal 597 runs. This beats the previous record of 531 set by Tong (265-9) and Adel (266-6) in 1998. Incredibly New Wortley reached their target in less than 32 overs!
